Working with WES
In 2022, WES was retained by the City of Boulder Regional Detention Project Team to develop 30% mitigation design concept to provide onsite offsets to the Regional Detention Project. The restoration approach reestablishes floodplain conditions, including riparian and wetland habitat, Preble’s meadow jumping mouse habitat, and Ute ladies’-tresses orchid habitat on a previously gravel mined property along South Boulder Creek in Boulder County, Colorado.
For this scope, Westervelt conducted desktop due diligence on historic species and habitat presence and reference wetland and Ute ladies’-tresses orchid habitat assessments to estimate City of Boulder, US Fish and Wildlife Service, and US Army Corps of Engineers mitigation requirements associated with Regional Detention Project development. Westervelt provided oversight and management on third-party development of design alternatives and 30% designs.
