Sycamore Creek Conservation Bank

The Sycamore Creek Conservation Bank in Butte County provides 273 acres of endangered species habitat for Butte County meadowfoam (Limnanthes floccosa ssp. californica), vernal pool tadpole shrimp (Lepidurus packardi) and Swainson’s hawk (Buteo swainsoni). The bank has been approved by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to provide credits in specific service areas.

Sycamore Creek Conservation Bank is a nearly flat to undulating site comprised of annual grassland and northern volcanic mudflow vernal pool habitat. Sycamore Creek flows along the site’s southern border and eventually feeds into the Sacramento River. Open space and the Chico Municipal Airport lie to the north of the site.

The property is located nearby other conserved properties in Butte County, including the Stone Ridge Ecological Reserve and City of Chico open space. Sycamore Creek Conservation Bank helps to provide greater habitat connectivity in the county.
