Working with WES
Westervelt was contracted by El Paso County to develop a site mitigation plan for the El Paso Akers Mitigation Site, a 56-acre wetland mitigation site established as part of the El Paso County Umbrella Mitigation Banking Instrument. Specifically, Westervelt conducted baseline studies and developed a mitigation feasibility study to understand current site setting and site restoration potential, developed the Site Specific Mitigation Plan, and lead permitting efforts and agency negotiations associated with site approval. The Project will not only provide compensatory mitigation credits for unavoidable impacts to jurisdictional wetlands to the County, but will also result in improved ecological function, flood amelioration, and site aesthetics for the surrounding community.
