Species and Wetland Conservation
WES completed the 664-acre Apple Road property to provide permittee responsible mitigation for the Silverado Villages project in Sacramento County. The site consists of vernal pools and upland grassland habitat for endangered species. The vernal pools have a documented presence of vernal pool tadpole shrimp (Lepidurus packardi) and vernal pool fairy shrimp (Branchiecta lynchi), which WES actively monitors. In addition, the site provides habitat for nesting Swainson’s hawks. WES is the long-term manager for the property and will take care of activities including biological inspections, general site inspections, coordinating grazing, conducting necessary invasive species removal, fence maintenance, and more.
