Stream and Wetland Mitigation

The Coosa River Mitigation Bank was approved in 2020 to provide compensatory mitigation for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permits. The Bank provides stream and bottomland hardwood mitigation credits within the service area, which includes Autauga, Chilton, Clay, Coosa, Elmore, Shelby, and Talladega Counties, within the Lower Coosa River watershed (Hydrologic Unit 03150107). The 370-acre restoration and enhancement project includes nearly 50,000 linear feet of streams and 35 acres of wetlands. The site is protected by a conservation easement held by the Freshwater Land Trust.
