Wetland Mitigation

WES completed 33.5 acres of Giant garter snake mitigation in Colusa County for the Maxwell Public Utility District as a full delivery mitigation project. The property is part of a more extensive network of nearby wetlands. The site shares borders on three sides with wetlands managed for wildlife habitat. Directly adjacent to the property is the Colusa National Wildlife Refuge, which supports a well-documented population of giant garter snakes. The Giant garter snake is a threatened species under the federal and California Endangered Species Act.
