Working with WES
Since 2014, the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has contracted with WES to manage three of their 13 banks throughout the state. WES has been responsible for site management, compliance, obtaining additional credit releases, and land stewardship for Catoma Creek Mitigation Bank in Montgomery County, Town Creek Mitigation Bank in Lawrence County, and Lillian Mitigation Bank in Baldwin County.
Because of WES’s commitment to restoration, conservation, and stewardship, a final credit release was obtained for Catoma Creek Mitigation Bank in September 2021 and is now in long-term management. WES has been equally successful with the Town Creek Mitigation Bank property by restoring the hydrology and reverting to its natural function as a bottomland hardwood wetland type, monitoring water quality, and managing exotic species. In addition, WES has provided reviews of the property and entitlement services for Lillian Mitigation Bank, including determining areas qualified for restoration, enhancement, and/or preservation and developing project goals and specific objectives.
